How to Connect a Priory Access CQ5 IoT Alarm Dialler to a Cooper FX2204 Fire Alarm Panel

The Priory Access CQ5 IoT Alarm Dialler can be connected to a Cooper FX2204 fire alarm panel to send remote alerts when the fire panel enters either a fire or fault condition. This is useful where you need SMS, call, or app-based notifications from an existing fire alarm system without replacing the panel.

For the Cooper FX2204 8-zone panel, the connection is made using the panel’s auxiliary relay outputs. These are volt-free relay contacts, which makes them ideal for signalling into the CQ5 alarm dialler inputs.

For a basic fire and fault signalling setup:

Auxiliary Fire Relay NO/COM GND and IP1 Fire alarm signal
Auxiliary Fault Relay NO/COM GND and IP2 Fault signal

When the Cooper panel detects a fire condition, the auxiliary fire relay changes state and pulls IP1 on the CQ5 to GND. The CQ5 can then send the programmed fire alarm notifications.

Likewise, when the panel reports a fault condition, the auxiliary fault relay is connected between GND and IP2 on the CQ5, allowing the dialler to send a separate fault alert.

 

 

The CQ5 should be configured so that IP1 is labelled as the fire alarm input and IP2 is labelled as the fault input. This allows recipients to clearly see whether the alert is a fire activation or a panel fault.

Always ensure wiring is carried out by a competent person, and that any connection to a fire alarm panel is checked against the panel documentation and site requirements. The CQ5 is used for remote notification and should not replace any mandatory fire alarm signalling equipment required by regulations or the fire alarm design.
